India, despite being one of the world's top five economies with 111 unicorns valued at $350Bn as of 2023, still faces a stark contrast in its socio-economic landscape, with 230 million people living in poverty and ranking 132 out of 189 on the Human Development Index. The/Nudge believes that technology, if directed with intent, can be a powerful equalizer, capable of crafting a pathway out of poverty for these millions. The challenge lies in ensuring that technology development and digitization are accessible and beneficial to all, particularly the marginalized, to prevent exacerbating existing inequalities. This calls for a collective effort from social entrepreneurs, business leaders, philanthropists, and governments to democratize technology and foster inclusive growth. By supporting tech-driven social enterprises and encouraging public-private partnerships, there's potential to leverage technology not just for economic gain but as a transformative force for societal good, aiming for a poverty-free India within our lifetime. This vision emphasizes the importance of innovation in public systems and the role of technology in sectors like education, health, and agriculture, to achieve sustainable development and equality.
