Poorvi has been in the development sector for 18.5 years and is passionate about Woman Empowerment, Equity and Education. Poorvi is the CEO of Katalyst India since 2015. Katalyst is an award-winning NGO that started in 2007 and prepares young women for leadership roles, creating a wider talent pool and helping bridge the gender divide. Before Katalyst, she was with The Akanksha Foundation for 10.5 years, leading youth leadership programs and helping with teacher capacity building.
Poorvi has been honoured under the 25 most influential women in India – 2017 by CEO magazine. Poorvi was a speaker at Girl Up Sydney in February 2021 and Equal Leaders Summit by Conference Board, USA, in December 2020. She was a panellist in the Global Women in STEM leadership Summit labelled “Design Your Future”, held in Atlanta, USA, in March 2018 and Beyond Diversity’s I Inspire, Gurugram, India, in April 2019. She was a speaker at TedX HR College, Mumbai, in March 2019, a CSR guest speaker at SIMS in July 2019 and January 2021 and a panellist at Harvard US India Initiative in January 2020.
Before turning to the social sector, Poorvi was with Price Waterhouse LLP, NY and then with Indocean Venture Capital and IndAsia Fund Advisors, Bombay, one of India’s first venture capital firms. Poorvi is an Alumna of SPJIMR, Mumbai and RIT, USA.
