Kopal Sarin Raj plays dual role as the Vice President -IT and Chief Information Officer (CIO) India at Wabtec Corporation. She leads the IT Teams at Wabtec India Technology Center (WITEC), Bangalore. As India CIO she is responsible for building roadmaps, driving and enabling IT transformations across all businesses of Wabtec in India.
She reports to Global CIO is on Global IT leadership team and India Regional leadership team.
Prior to Wabtec, she worked at Spirent Communications where she played multiple roles from leading Software Engineering in Bangalore and Beijing R&D centers for the Cloud Business, including providing leadership to Customer support, PMO, DevOps, on Product development.
She lead setting up the IT Shared Service Centre for Dupont at Hyderabad.
She is a sworn techie – developer who veered to an internal IT – CIO career path after tasting how her customer centricity made a difference to the functions she touched.
Worked on multiple strategic IT initiatives at Tata Steel and Tata Projects for over 10 years.
She has received the CIO100 award several times since 2014.
She has driven Business Excellence through models like Tata Business Excellence Model & Six Sigma. She has been into PMP – IT Infrastructure, IT Applications, IT Service delivery, ERP, and CRM for large Indian and global organizations.
She was often referred to as the commando to be called in when things seemed deadlocked in projects.
Kopal has done her MBA in Marketing and Strategy from XLRI. She graduated from BITS, Mesra with a BE in Computer Science in 1996.
She has been a Jury member and mentor in the first India 1000 Women leaders program. She is on the Advisory board for Diversity and Inclusion in G100 women leaders’ group.
She also is a unique army wife with a corporate career. She has stood out in many respects – an example of being comfortable in your own skin.
